Reliable Chemical Dosing for Water Treatment Systems
An online dosing pump is an important component of many water treatment plants. It injects a controlled quantity of liquid chemical into a water line or treatment process according to the system’s requirements.
At Aqua Water Filter, we provide water treatment equipment and accessories for domestic, commercial, and industrial applications. An appropriately selected online dosing pump can help maintain consistent chemical dosing, reduce unnecessary chemical consumption, and support the reliable operation of an RO plant.
Key Features
- Controlled Chemical Injection: Helps deliver a measured quantity of compatible treatment chemicals.
- RO Plant Compatibility: Suitable for many commercial and industrial reverse osmosis applications when correctly sized.
- Adjustable Dosing: Available adjustment methods depend on the pump model.
- Compact Design: Many dosing pumps can be installed close to the chemical tank and injection point.
- Multiple Applications: Can be used for antiscalant dosing, disinfection, pH adjustment, and other compatible treatment processes.
- Operational Support: Helps maintain a consistent chemical feeding process when correctly installed and calibrated.
- Water Treatment Integration: Can be incorporated into suitable filtration and water treatment systems.
Applications of an Online Dosing Pump
- Commercial RO plants
- Industrial reverse osmosis systems
- Antiscalant dosing before RO membranes
- Chlorine or disinfectant dosing where appropriate
- pH adjustment in water treatment processes
- Industrial process-water treatment
- Suitable filtration and water purification systems
Why Is a Dosing Pump Important in an RO Plant?
RO plants may require chemicals to control scale formation, manage feed-water conditions, or support a specific treatment process. A dosing pump helps introduce the required chemical at a controlled rate.
Correct dosing depends on the chemical concentration, feed-water quality, water flow, system pressure, and pump capacity. The pump should be selected and calibrated according to the plant’s design requirements.

Installation and Maintenance
Install the pump according to its manufacturer’s instructions and the water treatment system design. Check the required discharge pressure, dosing capacity, chemical compatibility, and injection-point location before installation.
Inspect suction and discharge tubing, valves, seals, and connections regularly. Calibrate the pump periodically and verify actual chemical delivery. Use appropriate protective equipment when handling treatment chemicals.
Important: Never select a dosing pump by flow rate alone. Its pressure rating, chemical compatibility, dosing accuracy, and required control method must also suit the application.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is an online dosing pump?
An online dosing pump injects a controlled quantity of liquid chemical into a water line or treatment system.
2. Can an online dosing pump be used with an RO plant?
Yes. A suitably rated pump can be used for applications such as antiscalant dosing, provided its capacity, pressure rating, and wetted materials are appropriate.
3. What chemicals can a dosing pump handle?
This depends on the pump’s materials and chemical compatibility. Antiscalants, certain disinfectants, and pH-adjustment chemicals may be suitable for specific models.
4. How do I choose the correct dosing pump?
Consider the required dosing rate, system pressure, chemical concentration, chemical compatibility, power supply, and whether manual, digital, or automatic control is required.
5. What is the price of an online dosing pump in Pakistan?
The price depends on the pump model, dosing capacity, maximum pressure, control features, materials, and included accessories. Contact Aqua Water Filter for a quotation.
6. Does a dosing pump remove TDS from water?
No. A dosing pump adds a compatible chemical at a controlled rate. It does not remove dissolved solids like a reverse osmosis membrane.
